A 10-YEAR-OLD Redland Bay boy stole the spotlight at Kidz Fashion Week, confidently strutting down the Gold Coast runway.

On July 20, child model and talent Rhys Tan-Inglis shone at Kidz Fashion Week, joining more than 200 young models in the festive “Xmas in July” themed runway parades.

Held at The Island Glasshouse in Surfers Paradise, the two sold-out shows featured live performances and inspirational messages from actors Brie Larson and Chris Hemsworth.

“We’re here for you, we love you, so stay strong, stay brave, stay courageous,” said Hemsworth on behalf of Marvel for children’s charity, SuperTee.

The 10-year-old boy, also known as MisterRhysAU on his socials, has been gearing up for the fashion show since May.

“It was so hard to choose what to wear,” Rhys said.

“I know sometimes people go all out in fashion shows and wear really flashy designs, but with the Urstyle option at Kidz Fashion Week, I wanted to show what I would really wear on the street at Christmas time or even at a Christmas party.”

For his Red Carpet VIP entrance and 2pm runway show, Rhys wore a red vintage GAP Kids jacquard Christmas knit sweater with a shawl collar, paired with a leather biker jacket and black chinos.

At the 7pm show, Rhys donned a Bauhaus urban-themed outfit from Myer, featuring a green fleece college-style bomber jacket, green chinos, a red raglan tee, a Santa hat, and matching white and red Vans to complete the festive look.

Rhys said he was proud to represent the Redlands at Kidz Fashion Week and felt very lucky to have been chosen for the event.

“I kept practising my runway walk and poses and got to try them out at rehearsals on the weekend with Terri before the shows,” the child model said.

Kidz Fashion Week founder Terri Svoronos revealed that Kidz Fashion Week gets around 1300 applications in every city.

“I do watch many of the castings, and it’s always nice to see some spunky boys in the mix,” she said.

“This event is so inclusive that every gender is welcome, but it’s particularly encouraging to see boys like Rhys participate, especially at his age.”
