Police from Redland Bay have charged a man following a dedicated response to reduce property crime at the Weinam Creek Marina at Redland Bay.

Around 2:20am on 24 November police detected a man attempting to steal a motorcycle parked in the marina carpark.

The man had attempted to gain entry to multiple vehicles within the carpark.

He tried to flee the scene but was arrested by police a short time later.

A 38-year-old Marsden man has been charged with 13 offences including unlawful use of motor vehicle, unlawful entry to motor vehicle, possess dangerous drug, and obstruct Police.

Senior Sergeant Matthew Thomson said the arrest comes as a result of an intelligence driven operation aimed at ensuring security of the public’s vehicles parked at the Marina.

We will continue to target and apprehend those responsible for these crimes and hold them accountable for their actions.

The man will appear in the Cleveland Magistrates Court on 16 December.
