A 15-year-old Ormiston boy will face his biggest competition yet as he represents Australia at the Trampoline World Age Championships in Birmingham.

Hudson Brown is about to jet off to Birmingham to participate in both individual trampolining and synchronised trampolining, earning his selection from his excellent performances throughout the year.

The young athlete has already had a successful year after winning a silver medal in the under 17s division at the Australian Championships and clinching a gold medal in synchronised trampoline while representing Australia at a Trans-Tasman event in New Zealand.

Hudson has also just been named as a recipient of a Game Set Match scholarship from Green and Gold Athletes Australia, an initiative founded by Nat Cook OAM OLY that looks to support and mentor young elite athletes along their journey to success.

Hudson’s passion for the sport ignited when he joined Carindale PCYC where he has been diligently coached by Anna Platt since he was seven years old.

Ms Platt said Hudson was very down-to-earth and a bit of a perfectionist even from a young age.

“Hudson would win medals at almost every competition,” she said.

“However, there was a time where he got disheartened because as a perfectionist it made learning hard skills a bit tricky.”

Ms Platt said that, unlike other young kids, Hudson did not have a gymnastics background before starting his trampolining career.

“For someone who is very neat and tidy, I was surprised he didn’t come from a gymnastics background,” she said.

Although this will not be Hudson’s first time wearing the green and gold, Ms Platt said this was his biggest competition yet.

“I couldn’t be prouder of him not just as an athlete but as a person as well.

“Hudson has come so far with his skills and has still remained his humble self.”

Hudson has big dreams of competing in the 2032 Olympics.
