The annual Prefects Investiture and Junior School Student Leaders Induction at Ormiston College is a significant tradition shared by the entire student body, staff and invited guests.

This event serves as a meaningful occasion to highlight the importance of leadership, responsibility, and the values that define the Ormiston College community.

Headmaster Michael Hornby opened the event and spoke of the importance of leadership and the courage to move forward when we face challenges.

He emphasised that students across the college had the opportunity to take on a leadership capacity, stating, “Every student here at Ormiston College is a leader, whether it’s on the sporting field, on the stage, in the classroom or in our community.”

Following their official induction, this year’s Captains, Jessica Schull and Tasman Wright, took to the podium to address their fellow students, inspiring them to seize every opportunity and contribute to form a united, committed and proud student body.

Jessica began her address by expressing her gratitude to the college community for the opportunity to serve as a Captain and reflected on the power of kindness in leadership.

“We all have the power to influence our lives and the lives of those around us,” she said. “It’s about the small things – helping out a friend, standing up for others, even just starting a conversation with someone new.”

Tasman followed, reflecting on the privilege of serving as Captain, and encouraged students to take full advantage of everything on offer at Ormiston College.

Referring to the changes at the college this year, he said, “In 2025 we want to embrace change and let this be a time of transformation – a time where we embrace everything that makes Ormiston College great and use it as a scaffold to lift us into the future.”

The college congratulates all its student leaders.

They have shown their dedication to upholding the values of Ormiston College, and the college is confident that they will excel in their roles.
