As the NRL season edges closer, the spotlight intensifies on Queensland’s four clubs: the Brisbane Broncos, Gold Coast Titans, North Queensland Cowboys, and the Dolphins.

With just six weeks until the season kick-off, these clubs face the critical task of finalisng their starting lineups – a challenge layered with pressure, especially for the Titans and Dolphins.

For the Titans, the urgency to determine their strongest lineup stems from their need to improve on previous performance inconsistencies.

Under the guidance of coach Des Hasler, identifying the right mix of experience and youthful exuberance is paramount. The Titans have dynamic talents like David Fifita and AJ Brimson, yet balancing star power with cohesive team play will be crucial. Hasler’s task is to forge a lineup that can deliver both flair and reliability.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins, under the stewardship of new coach Kristian Wolfe, are venturing into a season with high expectations. As the new kids on the block, they are under immense scrutiny.

Without Wayne Bennett’s experience, Wolfe will be under pressure to put together a lineup that is competitive from game 1, as this will be key to avoiding the pitfalls faced by previous teams that were coached by Bennett the previous year.

The Broncos, with a storied history, seek to return to their glory days. New coach Michael Maguire aims to meld emerging stars with seasoned veterans to revitalise their fortunes.

Similarly, the Cowboys, under Todd Payten, work to sustain their recent revival, ensuring no unexpected gaps in key positions.

Ultimately, these clubs’ ability to solidify their starting lineups will not only set the tone for their seasons but also influence the state of rugby league in Queensland.

The pressure is palpable, but with strategic decisions and keen insights, each team aims to make a bold statement.
