IT was a big weekend for Neon Boxing Academy as the team and a crowd of passionate Neon supporters made the trek to the Ipswich Showgrounds for the Ipswich Regional Championships.

Although only one athlete was matched on the night, Team Neon made their presence felt.

In just his second official bout, “Super” Scott Myler, from Thornlands, stepped into the ring and delivered a performance worthy of his nickname.

Taking on a fellow Redlands boxer, Scott found his rhythm early and took control of the fight by round two, delivering an eight-count and pushing the pace.

By round three, he was landing clean shots and showing composure well beyond his experience.

The judges rewarded his dominance with a unanimous decision victory.

“It’s only the beginning for Scott, but he’s already proving he has what it takes to go far in this sport,” said coach Neon Leon.

“His work ethic and mindset are what we’re all about.”

This week, Neon Boxing athlete Kipa Keremete, from Birkdale, continues his elite development as part of former World Champion Liam Paro’s fight camp ahead of Paro’s highly anticipated bout against Jonathan Navarro in Cairns on June 25.

Keremete’s inclusion in this top-tier camp is a strong testament to the calibre of athletes being developed at Neon.

The Neon squad now shifts focus to the upcoming Wide Bay Championships in Bundaberg on June 28, with a convoy of fighters and supporters ready to represent the Redlands with pride and power.

Coach Leon and manager Karina Lay also met with local Council members and Redlands Sports Awards officials this past week to discuss strengthening pathways for young athletes and championing sport across the Redlands – further reinforcing Neon’s commitment to community impact and youth development.

Neon Boxing Academy continues to be a beacon of athletic excellence and community spirit.

Whether in the ring or in life, these athletes are Punching with Purpose — and the results are showing.
