For almost a decade, Year 12 girls at Ormiston College have been donating their hair for wigs to help those with hair loss from cancer treatment.

The Chop – as the annual fundraiser is known – has collected over $100,000 in donations for Mater Chicks in Pink, supporting women living with breast cancer.

Cognisant of men’s health issues and inspired by their female peers, the Year 12 boys at Ormiston College have this year launched The Clip in support of the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.

On June 7, 17 students gathered, having a buzz cut and raising $12,000 in funds for prostate cancer research, awareness and support services.

Hair clippings will be donated to Sustainable Salons and used to create hair booms to help rid our oceans from oil spills that endanger bird and marine life.
