A LOCAL teenager has put her own creative spin on a dance assignment, choosing to showcase none other than the vibrant atmosphere of Wynnum Beach.

Fourteen-year-old Imogen Rae has lived in Wynnum for nearly three years, making it the ideal subject for her project.

“The main purpose of the assessment was to advertise something,” Imogen said.

“I wanted to show that you can have fun without spending money and Wynnum beach was perfect for that.”

Imogen’s approach highlighted the variety of activities available at Wynnum Beach, from the iconic jetty to the water park, playground, and pool.

She also captured local life, including a scene of boys performing tricks on their skateboards and bikes.

“I thought that was a good way to show the kindness of the people who live at Wynnum,” she said.

“Once I explained to the boys what I was filming, they were so excited and willing to be a part of it.”

When selecting Wynnum Beach for her assignment, Imogen reflected on her fond memories of visiting the area with her family when she was younger.

“Although I’ve only lived here for a couple years, my family and I frequently came to the beach when I was younger to have fun,” she said.

“Everyone else in my class chose physical objects to promote but I wanted to choose something that would apply to everyone.”

For her project, Imogen took a playful approach, capturing short, spontaneous videos that reflected the carefree spirit of the location.

The film also included some free-styled dance clips, showcasing her love for dance.

The upbeat vibe of the video is matched by the choice of music, with Imogen opting for Good Vibrations by The Beach Boys.

Despite the light-hearted nature of the project, Imogen’s assessment was met with positive feedback from the local community.

“Not one person even muttered a word about filming,” she said.
