Cricketing royalty is heading to the Redlands Coast.

Legendary all-rounder Lord Ian Botham will be the special guest speaker at this year’s Redlands Coast Sport Hall of Fame Awards Night, to be held on November 29 at the Sheldon Event Centre.

The event celebrates the achievements of local athletes, coaches, and community sports figures who have helped shape the Redlands’ proud sporting history.

Lord Ian Botham, regarded as one of cricket’s greatest ever players, will share stories from his incredible career and life beyond the boundary — from Ashes glory to his tireless charity work and commentary career.

Event organisers say having Lord Ian attend is a huge honour for the region.

“To have someone of Lord Ian Botham’s stature here on the Redlands Coast is something really special,” said Pat Carroll, Chair of the Redlands Coast Sport Hall of Fame Committee.

“He’s known not only for his sporting achievements but for his passion, leadership and community spirit — values that as an organisation we celebrate.”

The Redlands Coast Sport Hall of Fame recognises local athletes who have competed at the highest levels — from state titles through to international success — and acknowledges those who have contributed behind the scenes to help others achieve their sporting dreams.

This year’s Awards Night will see new inductees added to the Hall of Fame and plenty of inspiring stories shared.

Guests will also enjoy dinner, entertainment, and the rare opportunity to hear from one of cricket’s all-time greats.
