CRAFT Brew House has reached its goal of raising $20,000 for a Birkdale family after hosting a successful fundraising event on June 17.

The Cure for Kora fundraiser was held to support four-year-old Kora Dodds, who was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome two years ago.

Rett Syndrome is a genetic disorder which affects the way the brain develops, with loss of mobility or function in the hands and mouth.

Major research and trials are currently under way in America and there are hopes that a cure is within reach.

Cure for Kora was created to raise awareness and money for Rett Syndrome Association Australia.

The Dodds family are customers at Birkdale’s Craft Brew House, where you can often find Kora and her little sister Quinn dancing to live music on Sunday afternoons.

The fundraising event kicked off at 4pm with live music, a series of auctions and raffles, and AFL Masters Queensland Association secretary Sam French as the guest MC.

Kora’s mother Kelsie Dodds said she never imagined the fundraiser would receive such a high level of support from the community.

“It was awesome to see everyone have such a great night,” she said.

Craft Brew House owners Tracy and Martin Robson said it was a great pleasure to hand over the fundraising money.

“The community outpouring of support from the Redlands was massive,” Ms Robson said.
