Cleveland Rotary Club has served the Redlands area since 1962, supporting local and international organisations.

The Rotarians have a long track record of supporting the End Polio Now campaign, providing medical and educational equipment for those in need – particularly in Papua New Guinea, East New Britain and Vanuatu – hosting youth exchange students and supporting many local projects.

In recent times, they have been strong supporters of recycling, with our Unleaded Battery collections and working with ESRAG in developing sustainable practices.

Since 2000, Cleveland Rotary Club has sponsored students at St Jude’s School in Tanzania. The School of St Jude has become a beacon of hope for countless children who would have otherwise faced impossible challenges.

It is truly remarkable what Gemma Sisia has achieved. Gemma, an Australian hailing from Armidale, embarked on a life-changing journey to Africa at a young age. There, she discovered that education held the key to combating poverty.

With remarkable determination, she founded the School of St Jude in Tanzania.

A dinner will be held for Gemma when she visits Redlands in June. This event will serve as a launch for a new book, offering further insight into the story of this remarkable woman and her school.

The dinner will be held at Redlands Sporting Club, Wellington Point on Tuesday, June 13 starting at 6.30pm.

Bookings are open until June 7. Tickets are $60 per head and available at events.humanitix.com.

Members are currently working to move the premises for Rotary Australia Repurposing Equipment (RARE) to Alexandra Hills, where they will sort and pack medical and educational materials into containers to be shipped overseas.

Cleveland Rotary meets at Fiction Bar and Restaurant on Tuesday evenings at 6pm for a 6.30pm start.

More details are available at clevelandrotary.org.au.
