Redland City Council has launched a new initiative to support and celebrate the region’s arts and cultural community.

Mayor Jos Mitchell said the Redlands Arts Partnership Program (RAPP) would provide ongoing support to artists and arts organisations.

“The new program reflects Council’s commitment to fostering a resilient, inclusive and culturally rich city,” the Mayor said.

“The initiative is a reimagining of the companies in residence program offered through Redland Performing Arts Centre and will enable Council to increase its support of the creative arts while continuing to nurture existing partners.

“It takes a long-term view of the partnerships and how they deliver cultural impact and community benefit.

“Council is looking forward to seeing how these partnerships evolve and contribute to the cultural life of our city.”

RAPP offers support through two tiers of partnership – Companies in Residence and Program Partners – and is tailored to the needs of each organisation.

Companies in Residence are long-term partnerships with cultural organisations that work consistently with the community across development, performance and participatory practice.

Program Partners are Redlands-based collectives or emerging companies supported to deliver specific projects or build their long-term sustainability.

Confirmed RAPP partners for 2026 are:

  • Companies in Residence – Redland Sinfonia, Redland City Choir, Sing Sing Sing, indelarts.
  • Program Partners – Brisbane Excelsior Band, MATES Theatre Genesis, Play It Forward, Redland City Bands, Redland Rhapsody Chorus, Theatre Redlands.

Arts, Culture and Heritage portfolio representative Cr Paul Bishop said the Redlands Arts Partnership Program represented a shared commitment to culture, community and creative excellence.

“This initiative provides benefits for both the participating partners and the community,” Cr Bishop said.

“It will help foster sustainable creative practice and strengthen collaboration across the sector, as well as increasing access to high-quality arts experiences for local audiences.

“All participants will receive priority use of RPAC venues, alongside operational support, artistic and organisational development, and marketing and networking opportunities.

“They will also be encouraged and supported to pursue funding and other strategic opportunities to ensure long-term success and sustainability.”

More information on the Redlands Arts Partnership Program is available on the Redland Performing Arts Centre website.
