A YOUNG and talented fashion designer from Ransome is making waves in the fashion industry with her unique designs and passion for creativity.

For Brooke Wills, 19, her love for fashion began when she received her first sewing machine aged just nine.

“I got it for Christmas and started sewing little dolls’ clothes for my Barbies,” she said.

“I just really enjoyed doing that.”

This early passion led her to join the fashion program at Sheldon College, where she won Fashion Designer of the Year in 2023.

During her time at Sheldon College, Brooke participated in various competitions, including the Ekka Natural Fibres competition, where she won two and placed in all eight categories.

“I was pretty happy with that and kept competing until I got to Grade 12,” she said.

Last year, Ms Wills’ hard work paid off when she won multiple awards at the Rise to the Runway competition, including the Student Designer Award and People’s Choice Award.

Her educational journey continues at QUT, where she is now doing a Bachelor of Design, and in her spare time she sews garments for her own future collection debut.

Ms Wills’ brand, Clarity by Brooke, currently features colourful floral patterns and focuses on bringing femininity back to young women.

Notably, Ms Wills creates clothing for all body types and sizes, including clothing for tall girls, inspired by her own experiences.

“I’m 5’10”, and I struggled to find clothes that fit properly,” she said.

“I want to make clothing that will fit tall girls so they can feel more confident in what they’re wearing.”

Looking ahead, Brooke has many goals for her blossoming career.

“In the short term, I want to make 12 garments for the Ekka Natural Fibres competition and start selling my designs,” she said.

“In the long term, I want to have a business and a store where people know about me and buy my stuff.”

Despite Ms Wills being a young designer herself, she offers valuable advice to other young aspiring designers who wish to do the same.

“Keep being creative and having new ideas,” she said.

“Even though it feels like everything has already been done, there are always new things to discover.

“Just keep going and be creative.”
