Frustrating Broncos need consistency

The real Broncos stood up on Saturday and it just makes you wonder why they are not in the top 8.

Following the demolition job they did on the Cowboys up in Townsville, I’d imagine coach Kevvie Walters will be more frustrated than ever.

He knows what his team is capable of, and the players just haven’t shown their quality consistently enough throughout the season.

But that is how it goes in the NRL. Any team can get rolled if they are not at their best.

Talking about being at their best, you can’t help but look at the hiding the Sharks gave the Titans on Friday night and admire the power of that performance.

The 44-0 win for the Sharks should send a signal to all other clubs that they are starting to get ready for September.

There is plenty to like about this side from Cronulla.

And how about the Bulldogs? Their coach Cameron Ciraldo has done a magnificent job and they are now showing a toughness, and also a flair, that their fans haven’t seen for years.

When you look at all this, you’d have to say it’s certainly all shaping for a great finals series previewed by a few clubs desperately trying to secure a spot in the main event.

The Dragons, Knights and Raiders will still think they have a chance at the top 8 but time is running out.

However, the folklore of our great game is brim full of champions, and champion teams, who know how to show something special when special is called for.

But I’m a big believer that saying: “A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.”

With that in mind, I find it hard to see much of a change to how the top 8 sits right now.
