The Brisbane Broncos are in the process of laying out a warning to all other clubs – they are showing they are ready.

They are a great talking point because there always seems to be some sort of drama going on around them.

I have to admit, I didn’t understand their thinking when the club sacked Kevin Walters.

To me, Walters seemed to be more than just a coach – or put it this way, in my opinion he was more than a coach as compared to most of the other NRL head coaches.

The Broncos are a great club, there is no doubt about it. However, I think history will be the judge, and the un-Bronco like treatment dished out to Walters in 2024 will remain a stain on their history.

But, putting all that to one side, they are a team that is looking very ready, willing and able enough to come through on the burst and disrupt the hopes and dreams of quite a few other clubs.

The Dolphins are also laying very strong credentials but I have to say, I am not surprised. In my opinion, head coach Kristian Woolf is a man who has always been able to get the best out of his players, wherever he has coached.

The Dolphins’ 50 -28 thrashing of the Rabbitohs at Suncorp on Sunday was great to watch and, in all honesty, that scoreline flattered the Bunnies. But it was the body language of the Redcliffe team that displayed one of the great secrets behind that performance.

They look like a team that is very happy with where they are at. And you can put that type of attitude down to their coach.

There is still plenty more drama to unfold before this year’s Grand Final is played, but those who disregard the Dolphins, do so at their own peril.
