A Birkdale newsagency has congratulated another big winner after being named the “luckiest” store in Queensland for two years in a row.

Two Birkdale brothers have walked away with the top winning prize of $200,000 after purchasing a $15 crossword at News Extra Birkdale.

News Extra manager Adrian Johal said he was just as happy as his customers and felt as if he had won as well.

“We are so happy for them especially when they deserve it,” he said.

Mr Johal said the winner was a regular who always bought a scratchie and was happy it was someone who truly needed it.

“It is always a great feeling when you know them and get to see them in person,” he said.

“We have been very lucky with our previous winners usually being regulars.”

The store has a long history of winners and has sold seven division one wins in the past eight years.

“We have sold one almost every year, which makes me feel privileged to sell these top prizes to the local community,” Mr Johal said.

“There is a reason we were named the luckiest store in Queensland for two years in a row.

“The community has been so excited with people coming in and congratulating us and the winners.”
