BIRKDALE Sports Club was buzzing with excitement last week as it played host to the 44th Darts Australia Championships, drawing players and supporters from across the country for a thrilling week of competition, camaraderie and celebration.

The tournament kicked off with a vibrant Opening Ceremony, complete with a flag procession and the traditional first darts thrown by Redland City Mayor Jos Mitchell.

The event officially marked the start of a packed schedule of matches and social events that brought together veterans and newcomers alike.

Hosted by Darts Queensland, the week-long championships featured some of the nation’s best dart players.

Many attendees praised the venue’s setup, hospitality, and the warm community spirit shown by locals.

Organisers said the event was a huge success and are hopeful the tournament’s return to Queensland won’t be its last.

“This week wasn’t just about darts—it was about friendships, fun, and the passion we all share for the game,” one player said.
