As the new year slowly dawns upon us, it’s an opportune time for businesses to take the time to reflect on their past year’s achievements, challenges, and most importantly, to strategise for a successful start to the new year ahead.

Small businesses, the lifeblood of our local communities, play a pivotal role in shaping our economic landscape. Their practices not only impact their own growth but significantly contribute to the vitality and resilience of the neighbourhoods they serve.

Reflecting on the past year, it’s evident that Redlands Coast small businesses faced unique challenges, navigating through uncertainties posed by various factors such as the increased cost-of-living, changing consumer behaviours and the lingering effects of the pandemic.

Despite these obstacles, our local connected business community has exhibited resilience and adaptability showcasing some exciting times ahead.

Amidst these dynamics, effective planning and evaluation stand as pillars for their success. Business planning involves setting achievable goals, understanding customer needs, and devising strategies to meet them. Evaluating the past year’s performance aids in identifying areas of improvement and capitalising on successes.

Another essential aspect for small businesses is financial evaluation. Understanding cash flow, managing expenses, and assessing profitability are vital components. Figures released by the Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman revealed that efficient financial management plays a significant role in the survival and growth of small business, especially during these trying times.

Amidst these practices, it’s crucial to emphasise the significance of community support. Encouraging local patronage strengthens the local economy and fosters a sense of belonging. Collaborative efforts, such as local business associations and networking events, provide platforms for shared learning, support and growth opportunities.

The Redlands Coast Chamber of Commerce is holding one final networking event for the year, in a chance for the connected local business community and their neighbourhoods to come together to share and support each other.

Come and celebrate the end of 2023 with the Chamber, at their annual Christmas Drinks and particulate in their 12 days of Christmas giveaway, being held on Friday, December 8 at Barcella Restaurant, Victoria Point. Visit redlandscoastchamber.org.au to purchase your ticket today.

At the Redlands Coast Chamber of Commerce, we are committed to providing a safe place for engagement, connection and support and as we step into the new year, the call to action resonates strongly – let’s continue to support our local businesses.

Encourage friends and family to shop local, engage with these enterprises on social media and participate in community-driven initiatives. Each action, no matter how small, contributes to the prosperity of our neighbourhoods and sustains the entrepreneurial spirit that enriches our lives.

The year ahead holds immense promise for Redlands Coast businesses. By leveraging effective planning, evaluation, community support and a resilient spirit, our local businesses are poised for a year of growth and success, further strengthening the fabric of our local communities.
