INNOVATION in teaching and learning is central to the philosophy at Ormiston College.

The College is dedicated to cultivating the digital competencies, mindsets, and skillsets students need to succeed in a rapidly changing world.

Headmaster Michael Hornby explains, “Our focus is on preparing students not just for exams, but for life. Ormiston College fosters an environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

“Our commitment to innovative learning ensures students face the future with confidence and resilience.”

The College’s Teaching and Learning Framework extends beyond traditional education, equipping students with critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and informed decision-making abilities – skills essential for lifelong learning.

Within a caring and supportive community, students are encouraged to explore, question, and grow.

Internationally recognised for educational excellence, Ormiston College has proudly held the titles of Microsoft Showcase School and 5-Star Innovative School for over a decade. In 2024, Better Education ranked the College as Queensland’s top-performing Prep to Year 12 school based on NAPLAN results.

Academic achievement is just one aspect of the journey. Through a diverse range of co-curricular sports and activities, students develop leadership, teamwork, and complex reasoning skills that extend beyond the classroom.

Individuality is celebrated, and students are given the tools to succeed.

As one of Queensland’s most respected independent schools, Ormiston College offers limited Secondary School scholarships to both current students and new applicants.

Scholarships are awarded based on academic excellence, leadership potential, and co-curricular involvement.

Candidates for Year 7 scholarships must register for an examination. Applications for the Year 7, 2027 intake are now open and close

Sunday, January 25, 2026.

Offering a comprehensive curriculum from Prep to Year 12, with major intake years in Prep, Year 5, and Year 7, the College also welcomes children from 15 months in its Early Learning Centre.

Situated on a spacious 67-acre campus, Ormiston College features state-of-the-art learning spaces, a performing arts theatre, and world-class sporting facilities.
